Excavating the History of the UNM Maxwell Museum of Anthropology. Lecture by Dr. Carla Sinopoli.

Archaeologist and Director of the Maxwell Museum, Dr. Carla Sinopoli will be speaking about the history of the University of New Mexico (UNM) Maxwell Museum of Anthropology as part of the the Southwest Seminars program in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This program is a weekly lecture series held at different hotels. Since its founding by Edgar Lee Hewett in 1932, the UNM Maxwell Museum of Anthropology has played an important role in archaeological research across New Mexico as well as in the training of professional archaeologists. Hewett's role in Albuquerque and Santa Fe also contributed to complex relations between the Maxwell and other New Mexico collecting institutions. In this talk Museum Director Carla Sinopoli will provide an overview of the history, major projects, and current work of the Albuquerque's oldest museum.
