Every ending is a new beginning. The time has now come for the 150 plus Native baskets currently on display to return to the Maxwell's collections downstairs. The last day to tour these exhibits will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

However, you're invited to join us for a free, special closing reception on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 1:00 - 2:30 PM with snacks, drinks, and good company. At 1:30 PM, fiber artist Louie Garcia (Chicano & Tiwa/Piro Pueblo) and curator Lea McChesney will guide visitors through the two exhibits, "We Were Basket Makers Before We Were Pueblo People: Pueblo Baskets in Context" & "Conversing with the Land: Native North American Baskets of the Maxwell Museum Collection."

Free and Open to All. No reservation required, but registration on our Eventbrite is always appreciated as it helps the museum plan.
