Maxwell Stands Against Racism and Police Brutality

Maxwell Museum Blog

The Maxwell Museum of Anthropology stands with the University of New Mexico and millions of others around the country and world in expressing our grief, anger and outrage at police brutality and the destructive consequences of centuries of systemic racism against African Americans and other communities of color. We mourn the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery,  and so many others and join with the many around the world to call, and act, for lasting change.

As an anthropology museum, we acknowledge the troubled history of our own discipline and institution and are committed to honestly confronting difficult histories and working to build a more just and equitable present and future.
